Interview with a Six-Year-Old
If America's Home Video taught us anything, it's that children can really amuse an audience when the camera is turned on. A combination of saying the darndest things and operating with a childlike level of inhibitions can make children an excellent source of entertainment, however, their obvious wisdom is overlooked in consequence. Please enjoy this tangential finals pep-talk, as delivered by a six-year-old boy.
In light of finals week at Colorado Mesa University, I asked some friends if they were seeking any advice. With some guiding questions, I conducted an interview with Kainan Richmond, a local 6-year-old boy, to get his take on the stresses of college and primary school life.
Kainan surprised me in his well thought out answers, and those which were not so well thought out, but the result of the interview contained highly motivational language I thought would be beneficial for college students in the middle of a stressful finals week, and even beyond.
In addition to the video, I created a QR-code poster, allowing access to actual interview questions and Kainan's full answers, rather than the synthesized broad "pep-talk."
I derived several categories of "life advice" that Kainan seemed to focus on and organized them into an attractive, attention-grabbing poster. This poster can be quickly utilized by students who see it on the wall on their way to class and perhaps by professors who feel their students in need of a finals pick-me-up.
