Omegle Interview with a Stranger: Dylan from Georgia

At 20 years old, I can firmly say I've never been held at gunpoint, run from the police, or been in charge of a household. I've never provided for my mother or filled in for my father. I've never watched a street fight, let alone been a street fighter.
If you go to Omegle.com you have the unique opportunity to meet people from all walks of life. Faces appear center screen, poorly lit, and often cut out, to reveal more of the torso to the camera. It's easy, some would say, safer to assume each of these individuals possesses a certain internet-pervert mentality. Sex crazed and quick to the refresh, these Omegle users are online to see free porn, receive some sort of instant gratification if they can.
So, Dylan, a 21-year-old man from Georgia, would seem to be no exception.
Appearing dimly lit, with an untrimmed beard and a thick, flowing accent, Dylan would appear to be no exception for the common-man of Omegle.
Hardship has made him tender, and cruelty has made him ambitious.
Loneliness has made him willing to share.
"I want to give them every goddamn thing I got," said Dylan. "Them" is not just his two sons, his mother, his sister, or his "baby-mama."
Dylan wants to make money to give it away, make his people happy. He aspires to make his mark, have a positive impact on someone during his life.
"If I were to shave this beard off, I look like a straight baby," said Dylan, and in many ways, he is just a baby. Dylan's father left home when he was young, the responsibility for which Dylan took upon himself.
He told of multiple instances where his father had threatened to beat him, one where he held a gun to Dylan's forehead.
Give it up to people who really need it, do not waste it. "I don't wanna spoil my kids," he says, "I want them to see something in a store and to be able to ask my son, 'are you gonna have a good week?' and he'll say 'yeah!' and I can just get it for him."
After a recent injury while on the job, Dylan has been out of work, putting stress on his relationships and wellbeing.
"I was sitting at a 700 credit score, just started payments on a Chevy Malibu," said Dylan, "my son said it was like a racecar. We had a blast in the damn thing, my girlfriend even liked the car too- well, 'baby mama.'"
Dylan claims he was alleged to be responsible for the accident, by his employer. He says he remembers the day very well because he started it late; throwing him off.
"Now I'm actually in a lawsuit," said Dylan, "they won't even cover my medical bills." He was struck in the back of the head by a piece of heavy machinery last year, and his hospital bills remain unpaid for, despite his injury occurring at work, during work time, and only in one state.
"They had to repo my car, I used what I got from it to buy diapers," said Dylan.
"I was right," said Dylan, "I was right... now my credit's down to 400 and I'm screwed."
Despite his extremely few years of life-experience, Dylan from Georgia radiates positivity, kindness, and love for fellow man- except for all the fights he has.
Life in the South, or at least Dylan's life in the South requires frequent fighting.
Fighting off coyotes and bears from his home and to protect his dogs, one of which he bottle fed for months after it took ill.
Fighting off fellow high schoolers who attacked him in the bathroom at school.
Fighting guys who just jumped him on the streets.
"Strength" is tattooed on Dylan's arm, above "n & k," the initials of his mother and sister.
After being arrested at the age of 12 for carrying a firearm, Dylan remembers, "I saved up all my snacks for a month," to pay some fellow inmates for a tattoo.
"You know what 'n' and 'k' means to people in prison? Ni**** killer. That's what they thought I got tattooed on my arm," said Dylan.
Fighting off fellow inmates for a misconstrued tattoo meaning.
Dylan from Georgia is a fighter and a tender character with massive goals of positive impact.
Despite his young age, he must always be older. Despite his frailties, Dylan must always fight, even though he said he's pretty much stopped such activity because he doesn't "like hurting people."
In knowing him a small amount, I so want Dylan to succeed. I want the good influence Dylan aspires to have to be felt by those who meet him. I want him to "leave a mark," for himself, and his sons, his mother, his father, even.
His 20 years have been far more trying and mature than my own, and his resulting mentality more pure and kind than one would ever expect.
Dylan is a surprise fighter, and I hope he wins.
